CDI replacement

The CDI box on my 85 is dead. I'm assuming it makes more sense to modernize with a MSD from everything I've read instead of spending $400 on a CDI rebuild. Any recommendations on a MSD model?

You can get your cdi rebuild thru Pelican for $310.00.
I had both my 6 pin cdi's rebuilt, as well as a 8 pin a few years back.

What do you need? I have a CDI unit working when removed. Distributor also, if needed.

My distributor is good. CDI is original and finally pooped the bed. Thanks for the offer - I just ordered a MSD 6 AL and blaster coil. I'll get my CDI rebuilt at some point in the event I go back to stock in the future (which is highly unlikely)

I ran with a 6BTM awhile back....no issues with it. It provides ignition retard as boost builds, allowing you to run more pre-boost ignition advance to wake up low and midrange performance, then shave it off as boost builds.

I had mine rebuilt by Ashlock, look him up on this forum. If you go MSD you will have to change some of the wiring. There's nothing wrong with the original CDI, if it lasted this long with no issue why change up...
