octane boost
Other than adding some stabilizer to fuel, any of you guys use "octane boost"?
I have no idea if that stuff even works, but if it does, perhaps it's an insurance policy as well as performance enhancing????

Was just talking with Steve Weiner about octane boosters a week or so ago. His take is that it has no appreciable effect without using gallons of it. My advice is if your from Indiana there have to be some circle jerk tracks in your neighborhood and looking around the gas stations near the track you'll find someone who knows where the race gas is sold. Put about 5 gal. of race gas with the rest pump Premium and that would be a nice mixture for a 930 on the street. Cole

Take a 5 gallon gas can to your local Airport and get some Aviation fuel . Use 2 gallons in a tank full . Works Ok, revs and power / and smell / But only a small change . My 930 pulls through revs a bit faster . 96 RON is speck fuel /Premium CHEVRON fuel has always worked well .

Good Question!!!
My modded 930 really seems to feel better on the track with good 50% 91 octane auto fuel and 50% 100LL av gas. I am a pilot so I like the smell of the av gas. I have tried several combinations. I have run Lucas octane booster for comparison the av gas seems to feel like more power / smoother. Hopefully someone chimes in on this I would like to know. The av gas is better quality fuel no question. I only do 4 track days a year. Set us straight!!

Water/methanol injection gets you a functional octane of 100-110 depending on mix.

I asked about av gas years ago and the consesus was not to use it. I don't remember the specifics, it was just that I was better off with 100 octane.

i think i heard there was a reason the av gas was not a good idea in auto applications, the additives possibly? I am not sure where I heard this, so cannot vouch for the truth but be careful. also, you may be able to do a google search for local gas stations selling race gas and be better off mixing this with premium fuel. Citgo sells 110 octane in the summer here, but lately its been hard to get according to the station owner.

I recall reading a post from Goran (BeepBeep) where he stated that the lead in av gas would quickly damage oxygen sensors . . . maybe this is not the case when it is diluted 50/50 as others have mentioned above?
