Color code black for a 79 930?
Hi guys/gals.
I dropped off my hood and some other candy to a paintshop and he asked me the colorcode. Ofcourse the car is a loong drive away and i forgot to check. Is there standards for the code? It`s a 79 930 black/black I tried to read from this: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-930-turbo-super-charging-forum/449563-930-color-codes-help.html but didn`t help me much. Thanks again for any help

Most likely it is code 700, if it is a standard black. When you do get a chance to confirm, please email me.

Hei,
First you have to undo two bolts that attach the accordion bellow thingys on each side. They are accessed from behind the bumper. Remove the number plate lights on the bumperettes and disconnect. Then on the black rubber strip to the outside of each bumperette there are caps which you have to carefully prise out. Underneath is a screw with releases the rubber strip (the strip sought of tucks under the bumperette). Under the strip are two bolts on each side which hold the bumper. Undo these and carefully pull off making sure the wires that power the lights donīt get caught up. It weighs a bit, particularly if you have the larger american bumperettes. Itīs a fairly simple process and a lot simpler than my waffling on suggests. Be careful removing the bumperette as youīll probably remove some paint. Hence mine is in the shop getting repainted! Regarding the paint. Iīd ask your paint chap to check the 700 paint against your existing colour just in case yours ainīt a standard colour

Great advise on the bumper removal. I`ve read a few but never understood what to do.
![]() And the color. Yeah, it`s the hood so i think i have to get it right or it will show big time. Thx my norwegian fella ![]() EDIT. come to think of it i noticed a small cap ouside the left bumperette but not on the right. I saw a couple of holes with philips screws inside them. Hmm.. Will investigate more indeed! Last edited by Oheggem; 03-23-2010 at 02:15 PM.. Reason: Got a thought. |

Make sure it's 700. 1979 had two blacks, 700 (black) and 708 (metallic black).

Great. If you meet up with any Odegaards or Hauglums tell them cousin Mark says hi.

DO NOT USE PPG there is an error in the paint code for L-700100 had white red and black in it .not pure black. According to the PG chart/catalogue for Porsche ,L-700 corresponds to PPG 9300 and is a pure black as needed for the car. But if you input L-700 in the PPG computer you get dbc95085 which is black/white/red mixture. . I will be going to cort for this.
