Fuel accumulator On 77 what size?
I have a 77 930. I pulled the larger one out of the car. Based on the Pelican site pictures it should be for a 1976/1978 -94 930. I picked up the little one, it looks to be correct for a 77 930. Has a Bosch # 0 438 170 009 on it. What's correct or does it really matter?
Per pelican site the 77 930 used a small one. The larger is for the 76/78-89. Why did one year only use the smaller one ?

I had the larger one on my car as well when I bought ita couple years ago too. Not sure if they are available. I replaced it with the smaller one, and it seems to work fine.

Hi ,
I have an 89 930 and mine came w/ the big accumulator. I replaced mine w/ a small one because the big one cost $200+ more expensive than the smaller one. Ive been using the small one since Nov 2009 and so far it has not given me any problem.I posted in the past regarding the difference between the big and small accumulator but no one replied. tdh888 |

Update. Been using the smaller one for a while. Works great. Nice to have it start right up and not having to wait for fuel pressure to build up.

The smaller accumulator is a crossover from the 911. My guess is the larger accumulator was put in place in '78 due to the greater output of the intercooled Euro engine. For racing purpose (homologation) the fuel system was overbuilt on these cars. The system pressure for 930 CIS is also much higher than that of the 911. It would be interesting to see if, or at what point, the small accumulator would restrict power on a modified engine.

Do you have to get the air out of these when you install, or the pump will do that 4 me?
Also, there is a post for this : http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-930-turbo-super-charging-forum/611468-would-you-use-accumulator.html |
