The level of transparency on the part of Chris vis a vis TurboKraft is what led me to opening a dialogue with him about my car, not once did he sully the names of the criminals involved here, those bastards do not deserve that level of civility. I love that this is in the public forum because while I can be glib about an engine and what I expect from it quite a lot of you know more than I do so this build will be criticized by you as well as Chris' input whose I found to be invaluable on Tom's car. To put into perspective the money spent here is the fact that all the ancilliary parts to complete my hot rod was already paid for and installed with the exception of the coilovers so the money has all been in the engine and the trans.

Lincoln, I have just digested this thread and never ever expected to see what has been uncovered.
On one hand I see how on projects like these, a builder can run into serious problems and simply not have the funds to go back and make it right on their own dime. But that they repeatedly took your money, kept the truth from you about what was going on while heartlessly covering up amateur-like work and piling mistake on top of mistake, is the kind of foul play exhibited by the likes of Bernie Madoff. Bottom line is this is criminal. I'm angry and it wasn't even my money.

Chris, I have had the pleasure and displeasure of being with Lincoln every time the car came off of a trailer in Michigan. I look forward to the next experience being as enjoyable as the day it arrived from Utah (when he first bought it) and Lincoln grinning from ear to ear. I have those pics somewhere and hope he can re-live that joy one day again.

May the rest of the world one day enjoy the view of this 930's tailpipes (properly aligned) and may never again have to suffer burning eyes from all of the unburnt fuel it left behind.

Ed

Whoa.

Did I touch some nerves.

I find the work and the way the business that was conducted equally as bad as all of the posts here. I too feel this sort of thing should be told to save others. No argument here on that.

Again and for the last time, the owner has the right to do whatever has been done. I just feel that when shops get involved in posting pictures however neutral they wish to remain, it has consequences in this business. For all of the readers here, you are possibly seeing it only from an owners point of view.

This Porsche afermarket business needs to pull its socks up and clean itself up and rid itself of bad shops, but it does need an overdose of professionalism as well. It appears the owner is in law. I ask, is it common for the legal profession to bad mouth other law firms. They seem to keep that to themselves. This is my point.

SCHNELE,

I have no issue with what you did and say in this post. My point is, the information would get onto the web without the shop ever having to be involved.

We all want shops that are competent, do great work of high quality with intregrity, honesty and with a high level of business practice. I would say this is encompassed in the word professionalism. But I believe that to walk the walk you must also talk the talk. That is, a part of that same professionalism is how you conduct yourself within the busines you operate in. I do not believe you can just be a good engine builder and call yourself a professional. I believe it also is how you conduct yourself.

I can name some very well respected companies that are on this very forum, that are known for their high quality work. JB Racing, Rennsport to name two. I am sure they have seen their fair share of horror stories, but I have never seen either one of them or some of the others not named ever post pictures of the horror. They seem to conduct themselves in a manner befitting those who are real professional.

I take no issue with Turbokrafts abilities or work.

Guy's

Step back and take a f------ pill !!!! This thing is getting completely blown out of proportion.

The owner asked Chris to do the teardown, evaluate the damage, and see what can be used and what has to be replaced. Link also asked that the process be documented from start to finish so we could all learn and enjoy the process and Chris's art work. I, for one, throughly enjoyed every page of the last build Chris did for Tom and I was looking forward to this one.

Link got screwed, enough said, we have all been screwed at one time or another. You take the loss because you can't do anything about anyway, you learn a lesson from it, and you go on living being smarter than you were when you started. No one ever said life was going to be fair and the only thing we can count on from life is that it will end.

Chris has done nothing here other than what Link requested and was kind enough to include us. At no time did he disparage anyone by name he simply pointed out what was wrong and what it was going to take to fix it.

Any insinuation that Chris Carroll is unprofessional or lacks integrity is a bald faced lie and anyone insinuating otherwise obviously doesn't know Chris. Chris is one of the very few people in this business that is above reproach. He is not only a soulfully good person but the consummate professional and his integrity is beyond question.

Well, I would guess we have, probably, managed to f--- up a good thing by now so I would like to be the first to thank Link for his good intention and especially apologize to Chris for acting like a bunch of dumb asses.

Let's move on I am trying to, but I take umbrage with the fact that after the turmoil I have been through I am being censored. I don't want to drag this thread into a continous rant, I meant this to be a warning to others. I have said my .02

+2...Linc and Chris, thank you for keeping us up to date. We need more folks like you guys being open to all and to reveal the ugly truth.

I'm still shocked on how poorly your previous rebuild/upgrades were executed in spite of high quality components being used. I'm learning what mistakes to avoid and am looking forward to seeing your engine being rebuild properly.

Linc, Chris: Please ignore the B.S. and continue, this is one of the few threads that I have followed, and I was really looking forward to the continued documentation of tear down, and build.

Linc,

You are 100% correct to expose and vent, what you have endured at the hands of the previous builders is nothing short of criminal. Everyone knows this is an open forum and those responsible for the carnage of your engine have always had an equal opportunity to jump in here and defend whatever position they believe they have. Interesting, we haven't heard a word from them isn't it. With, but one exception, everyone here is great full that you have exposed these people and are totally supports your position.

The, holeyer than thou, rant from the self appointed professionalism policeman makes me want to puke. He is exactly what's wrong with our entire country today. It's chichi to be politically and socially correct and those who demand accountability and responsibility are disparaged and bashed, by all means let's shoot the messenger and trash Chris instead of holding the guilty party accountable.
THATS TOTAL BULL S--- !!!!!!

As you may have noticed, I do not have a politically or socially correct bone in my body and never will. I would have simply burnt their f------ building to the ground and been done with it.

Linc, you do exactly what you feel you need to do and tell everyone else to kiss your a-- because you've more than paid for the right to do so.

Cole

Sorry Linc and everybody can't help myself but respond...

I'm just loving all the talk of professionalism where we have evidence that shows pretty much criminal behavior...and not even petty crime given the $$ invested.

Sure, there are respected builders on the forums who don't show pictures of horror, but then I don't see pictures of their successes either. Maybe these guys don't even know how to post pictures Who knows and frankly who the hell cares.

Seriously..if the issue is who posts the pictures, send them all to me and I will post them.

perhaps we can have a separate thread on industy etiquette (or the general lack thereof), otherwise I will look forward to following the technical aspects of the build in this thread.

Yes, come on Chris, more pics please, take snaps of every part of the tear down and build. Would be great to also get some commentary on what you are doing and why, even down to the shuffle pins and their size and placements, any machining you do, the way you assemble stuff in what order etc etc...... I'd love to see a 'fully' documented build. Only if you have the time of course

if neccessary we can do a sister thread on FG to get the info out there without the PC BS...I don't censor anyone but if someone compromises the ability to convey good info like that of this thread, i'll ban their a$$es. This is one thing I don't like about public forums...people get so pissy so quickly.
