Looks good Jeff.....what did you decide with your injectors?

I didn't yet. They have been soaking on Techron all week. Once I get my valves adjusted and the valve covers with new gaskets on this weekend, I am going to pull them out of the bottle and see what I have and then decide.
Based on the colors of my valves, I don't think I am getting even fuel delivery to each cylinder, so I may decide to get the fuel head rebuilt and flow balanced, since that is probably beyond me.

Your engine looks beautiful! What did you use to clean it?

I used Gunk biodegradable engine degreaser that I picked up at Autozone, some plastic and brass brushes and LOTS of time and elbow grease.

Jeff, great job applying plentiful elbow grease - talk about an improvement! However, the next time you have a job like that, hire Paul - he can rub and rub and rub like nobody's business (and then he'll rub some more)! Polishing is that dude's middle name (particular if the item to be polished is cylindrical in shape)!!!

do you have any carbon tracing around any of the head surfaces? Just curious since same mileage as mine...

Definitely some carbon buildup on the piston tops and some in the exhaust ports, but not too much. (I hope) Valve seals look OK, but not great. I am thinking I will probably go two years and then rebuild the heads. If I drive 3k per year, that is only 6k miles. That is the plan, anyway...

YES, the air injectors are coming out. Just waiting on the plugs to get here.

If you want any more pics of something for comparison, just let me know.

BTW - anyone have an opinion on the whitish color of the exhaust valves? Is that normal, or is it lean? (or something else)?

Jeff, maybe you already have, but it would be a good idea to start soaking the air injectors with Kroil, or something similar, as they can be difficult to remove without shearing them in the process.

Sprayed my Kroil all over the injectors!

I sent my injectors to Larry at CIS Flowtech and he cleaned them and flow tested them and five out of six came back nice. One leaked when closed, so I bought one -017 and am calling it a day with the injectors. Larry is great. Charged $8 per injector to clean and test. Can't beat that! I thought long and hard about upgrading to 009's and maybe even euro fuel head, but decided the slippery slope had to end at some point. Definitely over budget and running out of time to be ready for spring. Maybe next year.

I am still waiting on my struts/shocks to come back from Bilstein for a rebuild, but I got the rest of my suspension bits done. (control arm bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, strut caps, sway bar bushings, drop links and trailing arm bushings ). Basically, all bushings have been replaced in both the front and rear suspension (spring plate bushings done last year).

Waiting on new fuel lines from Len so I can button up the engine bay work.

Just got my fan and shroud shipped. Mark sent me pics. I am blown away.

There was a crack in one of the supports in the shroud and he was able to weld the magnesium (rare that it works), clean it up, recondition it and ceramic coat it.

Finished my install of my PLX Boost Gauge/Wideband AFR gauge.

Mounted it under the driver's seat by cutting and bending some flat stock steel and using another piece as a pressure fit into the grooves of the control boxes and used 3M tape to keep it in place even though it won't move even without the tape. Ran the boost/vac hose and the AFR sensor cable through the rear firewall, ran the cable for the display to the dash and stole power from the accessory power in the seat connector. Nice and clean, very compact with the cable facing forward so feet in the back seat won't kick out the cables.

In other news, shocks and fuel lines will be here this week, so I can finish both of those mini-projects and then focus on finishing up the motor assy, and clutch replacement.

Looks really good. Do you still have the stock clock? I used a gauge plug from our host and drilled a concentric hole for the gauge in the plug. Pretty easy and clean if your looking for options down the road.

That fan looks incredible.

Did the air filter show up?

I still have my stock clock and it works fine, so I want to keep it. I am using 3m tape to put the gauge where you see it and I think it will work fine with no drilling or mods to the car. If not, I'll reconsider the clock idea.

I just PM'd you earlier. Yes, I got the filter. It was ridiculously generous of you to send it and I cant thank you enough! Lunch is on me when we meet up this spring. You had better finish your car by then...

These just arrived today. Original shocks rebuilt by Bilstein. Putting them in tonight!

I saw the PM but cannot respond in my phone. Glad it arrived and that it will be put to good use.

There are a few threads on rerouting the lines that vented into the stock air box. As it relates to the crank vent, I think Paul summed it up well when he opined: "friends don't let friends vent to atmosphere".…that still cracks me up.

Hope those shocks went in ok…
