Any of you guys have inlet temp numbers?

I've used 3 different turbos on my Carrera 3.4, and have seen inlet temps 10-15 degrees over ambient on 100+* days using a 3.5" thick core, full bay IC with 2.5" inlet/outlets.

The Turbonetics 60-1 (60mm) and Borg Warner S366 (66mm) both have ran similar temps, the Holset HX40 (58mm) ran the warmest, but spooled ~1000RPM sooner, possibly accounting for the additional heat.

Curious what you guys see using which turbo and IC.

I've ran 1.2 and now 1.4 bar.

I usually see 5-6 over ambient all the way up to 2 bar never pushed it over that. It has been pretty rock solid keeping those charge temps since running the pair of 46's, the 60-1's and the new hybrids. 4 1/2" core (2) 2 1/2" inlets and 100mm outlet.

5-6 over for mine would normally be on 80* days.

Very nice for 2 bar!

Have you guys noticed any difference in throttle body air inlet temps when the sunroof is open or closed?
I ask because it's possible the air going over the roof and flowing down over the back window and into the intercooler is a relatively smooth flow pattern when the roof is closed.. and maybe it becomes disrupted with turbulance when the sunroof is open.
Does the intercoolerd air temperature raise a little when the sunroof is open?

I never logged with sunroof open, but that's interesting.

I'm also interested in data supporting this. On my 3.0 (non intercooler) I see a rise in oil temps on 90 deg days If I have my sunroof open. Temps drop if I close it.

Although my turbo SC is a bit different in configuration, I have two transmitters; one at the entry to the airbox, and one inside the airbox past the throttle plate. I also have no tail on the car, and run about 6 PSI boost. The ambient sensor pretty much measures ambient when the car is moving. Temp in the airbox is usually about 145F off boost. I don't recall it ever being over 200F even at the track. Intercooling is via water injection only, no air-to-air intercooler.

I don't log any of these data points, so I don't remember exactly, but I do recall reading that the actual temps in a 930 at the port inlets could be in excess of 300F without intercooling and 1 atmosphere boost.

I don't know why Fairman is asking this question as I told him a few weeks ag that I logged both temps pre intercooler and after intercooler with roof open and closed. 2-3 degree temp diff.getting old sucks Jim

My up-pipe temp was 110 at idle and 190 at full boost on the dyno.

I remember you telling me that. I was just wondering if anyone else with intercooler air temp sensors had noticed any difference with the sunroof open or closed.
I don't have any way to measure that and it's interesting so I asked.
...and yeah getting old does suck.

Stock 3ldz, TiAl - 1bar spring, B&B intercooler. Keep in mind, this was a IR temp gun on the up-pipe, the intercooler wouldnt come into play. It was about 85F ambient that day and car was fully up to temp.
