Looking to change seats, what do you have or recommend? Pictures?

The seats in my '85 are factory leather which has become hard with age. For the price of having them redone in leather I can buy brand new aftermarket seats.
I'd really like something sporty in black vinyl or leather. Corbeau has a few that look really nice.
What do you have or recommend?

Corbeaus are untouchable in price, but they seem to last to their price. A lot of used I've seen had torn bolstering.

But, at their price, you could fix them several times over and save over others.

I really like the old school Recaro LS or similar in any G series [IMG]http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160212/2d7bffd78e5b0ae36f5c3e80d54848be.jpg[/IMG

In general the Recaro's will last much longer than the Corbeau's. All the Recaro's I've owned are comfortable and hold up very well.

Sparco make nice seats as well- I just saw a set listed for sale, I'll have to hunt them down.

No my seats are regular, not sports or I would have them recovered and call it a day. The Red Rocket had factory Sport Seats and I loved them! I had them overstuffed and they were so comfortable. Speaking of comfort, that is a MUST. I need seats I can sit in for 1000 miles if I want to and not have my bony ass in pain after a couple hours.

Corbeau has one called the LG1 that looks comfortable and nice in leather, anyone have these?
What about the Baja XRS? That dude looks comfortable!

I have leather Recaro C electric seats. Adjustable upper & lower side bolsters, leg extension, 3 adjustable lumbar support bladders, heat and power tilt. It don't get no better as far as comfort. My next favorite was the Recaro SRD. Leather is great if the seats are heated, and you have a/c, otherwise I'd go with cloth.

I like the standard seats better. (Quite the opposite for pre-74 911s, however.) In the day, the dealer I knew discouraged customers from ordering sport seats. I even saw them swapped for standard. The 80-84 sport seats are bulky and unattractive and no more comfortable than standard seats, IMHO. The 74-79 sport seats are better, but the fabric webbing is weak and gets saggy, and the backrests are still too bulky. So, I would reupholster your original seats, if I were you. Most of the success or failure of a seat recovering project depends on correct repair of the inner parts. Buy new foam for the seat cushions from Porsche. I would stay away from Corbeaus, especially if you lack natural padding in your butt. The Corbeaus that I had were basically solid platforms with thin foam. Horrible on a long drive, I tossed them. If you must "upgrade" I would look for a set of 1980s era Recaros with the "halo" headrest and adjustable thigh support. With a little added padding in the lower back area, these were the best seats that I have had in a car. I am not sure for how many years Recaro made that style, and later versions with a solid headrest might be just as good, and a little bit safer. Second best set of seats that I have had are standard factory seats in my 83 SC, which I rebuilt myself. I have had two cars with the pre-74 factory sports seats. In comparison, while the early sport seats are great and a huge improvement over the standard seats from the era, the later seats with all steel framing are more comfortable in a long haul and more durable.

I had leather Recaro C electrics on my ferrari and they were surprisingly supportive for a non-racing type shell seat. they seem to be infinitely adjustable with a bladder system too. no matter on where you have it adjusted, it was amazingly supportive for spirited driving and comfy as well. the ergonomics guys really did a splendid job on the C. only negative i can think of is that they would be on the heavy side. they were mega $$$ in its day 40 years ago and somewhat of a bargain compared to the other vintage recaros you find today used since they are somewhat out of vogue.

I have the SRD's in my car right now. Great seat, no real complaints but im not crazy about the styling.

Recaro Pole position are nice too but they dont have a folding upper which can make access a pain even with the flip up seat mounts.

factory sports seats are great, i had those in my 86 930 which were both supportive and comfy. the only thing is they weight a ton and i hated the electric controls giving the car yuppie, boulevard cruiser persona which is what a heavily optioned 930 really is. I would try to find pre 85 sport seats without the electrics if i would stick with the factory.

i would stay away from corbeaus, flexi and thinly padded. in my experience you dont need alot of padding if shell is properly designed. sat in a pure alloy race seat before and was astonished how acceptable it was just sitting on cold metal.

im currently look for the obscure lollipop seats for my car to rid some more weight. there are 4 or 5 outfits making replicas. Im trying to figure out who makes the best ones.

best of luck! my 2 cents pf

Yeah, the electric motor driven Porsche sport seats are heavy. I guess it's the steel frames and motors inside them.. they're made by Recaro.
I think I remember reading somewhere Porsche owns Recaro now?

The seats in the Red Rocket came out of the '79 930 donor car that was used. Everything was transplanted to the '78SC Euro lightweight. Those sport seats were manual and fairly light. So many nice parts went with that car ...
I'm not going to reapholster the stock seats in my 930, they are boring and suck. They are also electric and heavy. I don't see any reason for an electric seat in these cars personally.
So Corbeaus are no good. Well that sux as they aren't cheap! Any other aftermarket seats that are affordable and look like the Corbeaus?

What's your price point? I'm not sure this was ever called out.
