Your absolutely right, I'm motivated to finish! I hit a little snag, my clutch cable adjustment was off, I couldn't get the car in gear... I remeasured the throw distance and it read only 8.0mm instead of 25.0mm the clutch is not activating... ( I was in a hurry the other night). I'm gonna try to correct the problem tonight. I gotta wait until the Wifey gets home from work. I watch the video's you guy's posted of your projects and that give's me the extra boost to get my car on the road! I got the clutch adjustment right this time. I installed the big helper spring backwards I was able to correct the problem after realizing it wasn't my cable adjustment. I was able to engage the clutch putting the transmission in 1st & Reverse while the car was on jack stands with the engine running, but as I lowered the car to the ground, my adjustment was thrown off (became loose) and could not place any gears Back to adjusting again...

Do your SSI's interfere with your clutch arm helper spring?

it did when I had the spring turned the other way, I figured it was not going to effect the clutch. My clutch was not opening at all and my clutch pedal was way to stiff and not leveled with the brake pedal. I knew I had it all wrong. After turning the spring and re-adjusting the clutch cable, the clutch pedal was even the brake pedal, when depressed it is very smooth unlike before and I was able to place in gear no grinding like before. When I lowered the car the cable must of became loose at the clevis. My fear at first was that I didn't properly attach the throw out fork with the throw out bearing when I mated the engine and tranny.

My clutch is working perfectly now

Now it's time to adjust the air/fuel mixture, I didn't buy the adjustment tool and I don't have a AFR. I drove around the block a few time's and it run's poorly, no back firing though

I got my car back from shop today after dropping it off to have the C/O adjusted. The problem i was having was a bunch of air leaks and my air box had several tiny cracks that i didn't notice. All the air leaks were fixed and i replaced the air box with a new one. The base of the intake manifold's had to be sanded down a bit and all the gaskets had to be replaced. The air and fuel was then adjusted. I wasn't able to drive a lot today because the roads are wet and messy but the drive home from the shop was a blast! the car drives very nicely and the engine sounds amazing!
I will update again when I put more miles on the engine, I only put 20 miles on her so far!

Yeah, it's cold. It was a wopping 32 deg. Earlier and now it's around 20..

Thanks! Yeah... 3 agonizing months But, I really can't wait for the American Le Mans Race in August. It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Chicago to Elkhart Lake Wisconsin where the ALMS is held around my parts. A lot of nice P-cars there!

When I first took on the project I started with a budget at around $6,500.00... I didn't take into consideration all the other parts that would also need replacing such as, the entire exhaust system, fly wheel, clutch, oil lines, thermostat, air box and drive shafts. So after it was all said and done, my initial figured jumped to around 15k. The "while you're in there" syndrome kicks in big time! I pretty much wanted to make this car brand new again; I can honestly say it drives almost new. This summer I intend on replacing all the brakes, shocks and maybe throw in a new tie rod kit. I'm going to start saving my cash again, hopefully with in a few years I can have her repainted. I know I will probably get no where near the money I put into the car thus far, but taking on this project made a lot of great memories for me and dad who helped me with my rebuild project. Believe it or not, I have received a few offers already.

yep, I had to buy the tools needed. That's another reason why my budget increased. i didn't take that into account, that also includes the many trips to Sears and Auto Zone etc... I spent a lot of cash on brake cleaner, oil, paper towels, oil filters and a bunch of other crap that you end up buying when your at the auto part store, or it could be just me and and my bad spending habit.

Well not much of an update but i was in the mood to post something

So far not a drop of oil on the garage floor. I got my speedometer back from the shop, it now reflects my new engine mileage. I started the car up tonight, all it took in -12 degree weather was a quarter turn of the key...

Yep I had to sand most of it off.. It was sprayed way to thick.
