The engine was sold to a race team in Florida and they haven't responded to my request for information. I'm believe that the car is not complete so the engine is on the back burner. So Davey, what can I do to help you understand?

Henry:
Where did you chase up the '906' cooling tin? Is it more effective than the regular items? Is that an instock item at Supertec? I need to order a set of head studs soon anyway. Tadd |

Henry,
This is another work of art. I always look forward to your engine build threads. The best combo of engineering expertize and aesthetics I've seen. I always learn something while drooling over the pix. regards, Al

I have used these 906 thingees of Henry's and they are nice bits that he came up with in those times between finding happiness and working on his rat rod.

Henry:
Did you ever hear anything on this motor? I hurts me to be a pain in the arse to bother you over it since you tried before, but I'm just dying to find out how it worked out.t

Cool old thread
It always amazes me to see how innovative Porsche engine builders have been over the years.
As expected, Henry @ Supertec built an engine on the cutting edge and still old school. Cool heads making high compression with flat top pistons. GT3 Ty rods Custom crank 906 cylinders with redesigned sealing surface. 906 cooling tin and on, and on.

Exploring the possibility of building a 964/993 based, Extreme cylinder Head 104x66 engine with flat top pistons and peanut chambers.
We're hoping to save 70grams on the pistons making a 360gram possible. GT3 Pankl rods, SuperCrank, Peanut chamber heads (Xheads) and super light CP pistons. Looking for a 9000 rpm, 2 valve, 3.4SS, 911 engine.

Lets explore this idea more. It seemed to die off with Covid....
Any progress? Would be an extreme short stroke 3.4, super cool. Cheers

Considering how much money we spend on Mezger engines I'm surprised heads with better chambers isn't a more common modification.
This is how Ducati do their twin plug air cooled two valve heads: ![]() The cutout in the fins is for the cam drive toothed belt and the housing at the top holds the camshaft. |
