Actually, that contributor has a beef with me. This has occurred ever since I called him out for suggesting someone stamp a serial number on a blank engine case so the car would still be a numbers matching car.

I revived the this thread because the poster I quoted mentioned that he had been told that nothing should go on the main webs. I thought he had good info when I read the thread a month or so go. When I read on Facebook what Trevor Dawe posted about this, it confirmed that the poster had good info then and I thought I would pass that along to him and anyone else that might read the thread.

Anyone that wants to use 574 on the main webs is more than welcome to do so. But, Porsche did not build street or race engines that way. I am pretty sure that shuffle pinning was used by the Factory to counter fretting. Maybe the race engine builders that don't use 574 because they don't see the fretting problem on their engines. Somehow I would think fretting is more of an issue on race engines though......

Hmm, I can modify my sig. Is it because you have links in yours?

Post that thread....
As for a beef with you? You are a want-a-be, desperate for notoriety. There have been plenty of Porsche gizmos over the years that have had problems with my delivery. Rarely do people question my expertise.....have at it squirrel.

Wannabe? Desperate for notoriety?? In engine building??? I am not an engine builder so that would be a strange goal for me.

I have not questioned your expertise. I am sure that you have forgotten more about Porsche engine building than I will ever know. That does not make you infallible. I have questioned aspects of your advice and will continue to do so when it does not make sense to me. Whether it is about head studs, the number of ignition modules for a twin plug setup, where sealant must be applied, or stamping a blank case on a numbers matching car.

Here is that thread where you offer a blank case to be stamped to a guy that wants to keep the car number matching:
