Number 8 Nose Bearing w/ no notch

I am rebuilding a 1979 911SC 3.0 engine. I purchased a number 8 nose bearing, part number 964-101-138-01-M157 from our host. Unlike the original, this one does not have the large notch on it. Should this be returned, or is it ok to use. I have looked through my pictures from the tear down, and don't see what the notch's use was. Thanks.

Trent

The new bearing is an aftermarket part. I believe they are made by Roush and Spiegel, right here in the US.
They seem to be of reasonable quality. You can add the notch if you want.
The notch in the original makes replacing the seal easier.
