It's very easy to misplace during a teardown of the tension plate. Your trans has the potential to get into two gears at once-sorry. If you have access to PET you can look up the drawing. I can't recall
offhand which rod it goes into-maybe the 3/4? but it has to be installed during assembly and
there is no way to fix it without tearing the trans down. Or put it under your pillow or somewhere
and hope you don't find yourself stuck somewhere with corvette people around snickering!

Wow. OK, thanks for the info. I don't know what PET is but I assume some sort of exploded parts diagram. Is it a possibility that the rebuilder left it in there by accident and my bro in-law is lucky?? I doubt it. I need to know how serious this can potentially be. He is unfortunately not on good terms with the company that rebuilt his trans.
