Note that your 924S is a 944 in 924 body. Early 924 and 924-S is VW and is not the same car.
Efficient troubleshooting (least amount of time & money) requires measuring parts and coming up with NUMBERS. Then comparing those numbers with what's listed in FSM will point out if a part is good or bad. Without the numbers, you're throwing random darts hoping something will stick. You're replacing perfectly good parts with new ones and nothing changes.
