was an insurance damage field adjuster for over 30 years any good body shop will have no problem repairing the damages however if you decide to do the repairs yourself just swapping the door and putting a used quarter panel would be easier and require much less straightening skill depending on what appraiser the insurance company sends will determine if the car gets totaled (miles/condition) its a bit more paperwork to total it but in most cases easiier for him/her in the long run also the appraiser relationship with the shop you choose is going to be the determining factor If they total the car you get book value plus dealer prep and sales tax... then you can retain the salvage for 10%-20% of the book value and fix it your self with used parts for under $1000
