thatīs not good...donīt you hear strange noises when engine is very hot? If there are no leaks and water level is ok,and engine runs good,i assume is the gauge...that thing that happens when you turn lights on seems to be gauge problem.
Since I have little knowledge about electricity i cannot help you more...sorry
