No. The use of the flat plate, which is actually made for a different purpose, only will work on three chain engines (only one cam on the five chain engine has a slot for the tool to fit into). You have a five chain engine. The actual retaining tool bolts into the same place on the cylinder head, but uses bolts that are tightened into the ends of both cams, and will securely hold either style cam, and also includes additional cam bearing saddles to hold the cams while you are doing your repair.
