Need advice - 1989 Porsche 964 Carrera 4 with 59K miles
I have a Porsche 964 that has very few miles on it, 59,665 to be exact. All original with the sport seats, with the exception of some newer wheels because I did not care for the original ones. I went ahead and had Jones Autowerks do a top end on it to seal everything up since it has been used so little over the years. We went ahead an re-ringed it and did the rod bearings, etc... It is about as mint as can be. I have been hesitant to put miles on it for fear of losing value but my father owned this car. He is 92 now. When I drive it I get the biggest kick out of it. It runs and drives as new and no other 911 I have ever driven has the same visceral yet modern feel (good AC) as this. In addition, I believe there were only approx. 1100 built.
My question is what what would you do? Say to heck with the mileage limitation and drive the hell out of it for the rest of your life? I struggle with this but I tend to think that these cars will never see 6 figures quite frankly and I am not even certain that I could sell it because of the ties to my dad. Is anyone else going through the dilemma of not driving your older 911 when values are going up? Anyway, I am probably answering my own question but wanted to get your thoughts. This is a tough one but I suppose I am leaning towards decades of memories in the 964.
