84 model, bought newer water pump and have conflict

So, putting new timing belts on and ordered the newer style water pump with the bosses for the belt guide, and also ordered the belt guide to install. I also ordered a 46mm water pump roller which goes with the newer style water pump. Thought I was covered.

I took the front timing belt cover off and I see conflicts. The back timing belt cover that is against the block (vs the front I've removed) does not have holes in it for the bosses on the water pump that hold the new belt guide I'd planned on installing.

What am I up against here? Do I just punch holes in it, which is fine. Or once in there will I find other things that won't fit my newer style water pump that will require me to essentially buy an entire new timing cover? Pelican doesn't sell them, so I'd not be too happy about having to buy what is likely a $200 Porsche part just to install that little belt guide. Thoughts?

Thanks.
