First, it's not 'up' anywhere from you Rick. Just head west on 35 and you'll run right into it before falling in to the great Hudson River.
Second, crime rate Alan? Give it a break. Peekskill is just one of the many historic Hudson River cities that got run over by industry and then the rail line. They've been trying hard for decades to revive downtown but with no highway running by, it ain't easy. (Route 9 isn't a highway)
It's not all that bad really, but like other waterfront cities like New Rochelle and Yonkers, it's tough to pull yourself up by your own bootstraps when lower income moves in and never moves out. But the location on the Hudson River? My God man, what a location!
