I'm running in the Peekskill Grand Prix!
Hope everyone can come out and cheer me on!
What? The Milea Truck and Auto Group Vintage Grand Prix is designed to be a signature event for the Gateway Chamber of Commerce and the entire Hudson Valley region. The PVGP will be the first of many events that will grow to become, Hudson Valley Car Week. The PVGP is not a race. It is not a car show. It is not a rally. It is something very different and something very unique. It is being branded as a “Motoring Event”. Vintage autos will be given an allotment of time within a certain class of autos to travel around the course which is being laid out to go directly through downtown Peekskill and to pass along the magnificent river front. Cars will be spaced out as they are let onto the course at controlled intervals. This is not a race. There is no timing. There are no trophies. It’s not a competition. It is an opportunity for drivers of these vintage machines to put these cars through their paces unencumbered by street lights and stop signs. And it is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the public to come and watch these magnificent autos do what they were designed to do. DRIVE. All free of charge. Our Chamber never tires of promoting and supporting everything the Gateway Region offers, and to that end we are proud to be the driving force behind the inaugural The Milea Truck and Auto Group Vintage Grand Prix. Come join us on Sunday October 15, 2017 and see what the City of Peekskill has to offer. Where? Peekskill, New York When? Sunday October 15th Peekskill Grand Prix 2017 ---Adam ![]() ![]()

It's a parade.
Not a Grand Prix. They want to draw attention to businesses there rather than the crime rate. |

Is the crime rate really bad up there? I wouldn't have thunk

I wish you well, and I hope you have fun, but it's not going to be anything other than a parade. To advertise it as a Grand Prix - a la Pittsburg - is risible.

Used to love the Oakland Grand Prix as a kid. Crime rate be damned.

First, it's not 'up' anywhere from you Rick. Just head west on 35 and you'll run right into it before falling in to the great Hudson River.
Second, crime rate Alan? Give it a break. Peekskill is just one of the many historic Hudson River cities that got run over by industry and then the rail line. They've been trying hard for decades to revive downtown but with no highway running by, it ain't easy. (Route 9 isn't a highway) It's not all that bad really, but like other waterfront cities like New Rochelle and Yonkers, it's tough to pull yourself up by your own bootstraps when lower income moves in and never moves out. But the location on the Hudson River? My God man, what a location! Good luck Adam! I might take a short drive over and take in the event, parade or not. Nick

Just checked the website. Very cool, I wish they allowed younger cars, I'd have showed up with the Targa. No clear to me though what the rest of the "Hudson valley car week" consists of.

Can any of you say the same? I'll call it like I see it. Oh and OP my intent wasn't to piss in your cornflakes - although you clearly took it that way - but to point out the hubris of the whole deal. If they'd said a parade and car show no one would have thought twice about it. A Grand Prix otoh has certain expectations that aren't quite being lived up to. Have fun. And lock your car... |

Wow, what a fun day. Driving full out through city streets is really fun. Two other 356's made it out, Chris Smith from New jersey in his 59 A Coupe and Ken Taplin came all the way from Maine in his 59 Convertible D. The three of us had about as much fun as you can in a 356. I'm hoping to get a whole Porsche group together for next year and all run together. They broke the cars up into divisions, we were running against early Asian cars as well as a mix of European cars. There was also an American Thunder Group, as well as a British Invasion. Everyone had a great time, can't wait for next year!
