Hi all,
I need help in determining the value of an engine I want to sell. It is a 1970 2.2L S engine serial # 6301335 that I have been running in my 914.
The engine runs very strong and the reason I am selling it is that I am installing a 3.0L in the car now.
Here are some specs on the engine:
2.2L S engine Serial # 6301335.
Case: Aligned bored, squinters installed shuffle pinned, time certs.
New chains/ramps/bearings.
New rings.
Crank turned and drilled for oiling.
Flywheel turned and balanced.
Distributor: Bosh 0 231 159 006.
The leak down numbers that were read with cold engine (it is already out of the car) at room temp. Engine at running temperature would have better numbers. Spark plugs are nice and clean.
1 - 9%.
2 - 10%.
3 - 12%.
4 - 8%.
5 - 12%.
6 - 12%.
This is a link to video of the engine running when it was on the car a week before it was removed
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whJkwd4RO9E .
The engine is being sold as a long block with flywheel and distributor. Some local Porsche buddies convinced me that the engine was too valuable to run in the 914 and that I should sell it. The values they suggested seem..... questionable to me now.
Can someone give me a non biased opinion into the true value of this engine.
I would like to sell it but I will not give it away.
Thanks for the input.
Bill.
