I'd used a contact cleaner such as Wurth's Kontact OL, along with a gentle scrubber such as a small metal brush or crocus cloth. You do want to get rid of corrosion, but don't want to tear out good metal. I wouldn't clean to the point of bright shiny metal: normal surface oxidation will return anyway. Just to the point of removing crud-level corrosion / oxidization.

Also check the connection of wires to the fuse holders, make sure things are clean and tight. Good luck!
