I recently removed the engine and transmission from the 911 for routine maintenance and tinkering. I'm very happy with the method I use to drop the engine and to raise it to the engine stand. I can get it out of the car and onto the stand in a few hours of leisure-paced work. All part of the fun of owning an old simple car!
I first removed the valve covers to see if the RSR seals I installed last winter sealed as well as I suspected - not a drop on the garage floor all summer. Indeed, the ends of the rocker shafts are dry! You can see this in this time-lapse video:
