2001 E46 (325ci): simple maintenance?

Greetings,
My project car is a 1985.5 Porsche 944 (parts supplied by Pelican Parts :-) but my commuter car is a 2001 BMW 325ci. Since I do a lot of work on my 944, I have a hard time believing that the 325 can go for many, many miles before it asks to be serviced.

For example, I could not stand to have the original air filter element in the car after 10k+ miles (and the car still a ways from a service appointment) so I replaced it. I felt better than my car was breating freely.

Regarding the spark plugs, I wonder how long those things will last and when I should replace them? The car has around 56k miles on it and has the original plugs. (I bought the car at 26k miles, 2 years ago.)

How often do you guys change your spark plugs? Does the 325 come with platinum plugs that go for 60k miles?

Factory says plugs are 100K items. Oil is approx. 15K. Air filter is done at inspection II (50-60K miles) Cabin filter is every 15K miles. Fuel Filter - not noted. Gearbox oil and rearend - never. Coolant - lifetime or 4 years. Brake flush not mentioned.

Not that those intervals are recomended. I'm doing the plugs around 60-70K. Air filter and fuel filter transmission and gearbox at 30K. Oil changes at 7500 using Mobil 1 not factory fake synthetic BMW oil. Radiator flush with Pentosin and brake line flush every other year.

Good to DIY. Take a look at the services performed during the dealer's Inspection I and II, looks long and impressive. Read it closely - then check the price tag. T- it's a lot of damn money to check your car for rust and the condition of your tail lamp bulbs. Talk about beating your customer to death.

Platinum is standard. Use Bosch or NGK. I used Bosch Irridium +4. Plags can be VERY hard to remove at 100k.

Oil 7500 or 6mo.
Air and cabin filter 15-30k
Man tranny and Diff 30-60k
Automatic tranny 60k
plugs, fuel filter, belts, p/s 60k
brake fluid 2 years
coolant 4 years
