Door dings
I have a 1991 535i and it has been a great car except it has been extremely prone to getting door dings. There is a ridge in the sheet metal at the top of the door that projects beyond the protective strip mounted lower on the door.
Now I am looking at buying a 540i, 99, 2000 or 2001 and I am wondering if they have the same problem. What has been your experience? |

Since I live in a suburban area, I usually have the option of grabbing an end row spot, even if it means walking a bit, I don't mind. In inclement weather, I just offer my passengers the opportunity to be dropped off at the door while I hunt for door-ding free parking.
It's been a success so far, except for the #!@#!$@#$!@# CRV that forgot to set the e-brake. Not really a door ding, though.
