Ants!!!

Totally flaberghasted (is that really a word?) by this. Came back from an extended week end out of town to my covered car with some sort of ant INFESTATION. Has anyone ever heard of this or had to deal w/ it?? Not like i dont eat food in my car from time to time dont think i have any more crumbage than any one else. Besides i traced their trail from the trunk into and thru the interior, back out by the windshield and into the engine compartment just under the hood along the rubber seal and then they just kind of disappear down past the coolant res neck and past the radiator. Could they be going after anything in particular? Perhaps eating into some wiring or somethin?? Any ideas out there? Please!? Thanks.
