The Problems Begin...

So far:

1. Shifts like crap--clunk clunk!
2. Sidestand is useless--centerstand required (added weight?)
3. Synthetic oil not recommended. WTF? Clutch?
4. Trans & Engine share oil supply. WTF? a long-time BMW feature down the 'drain'.
5. No nikasil cylinders. Doesn't look like the typical BMW longevity will be available with this bike.
6. Blue & white?? Yellow & black?? Oh, great.

And that's just at first glance...

On the other hand, its nice for BMW to offer a bike with:

- 0 to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds.
- Claimed 0 to 200KMH (0 to 120 MPH) in 8 seconds.

I'm going to give this bike an objective chance to win me over. For me its a wait and see situation. I'll be reading long-term evaluations in magazines like UK's "Bike" magazine. I definitely like the idea of performance like this with ABS and driveshaft. Then again I may stick my totally satisfactory R1100S patiently until the R1200S comes out in 2006.

yadayadayada...Have you ridden the bike or own it or is it typical internet blabla b.s.?
Give the bike a chance and let people ride it before judging it.
And yes some people might be disappointed that they have to wait but it is winter anyways and it is better to get the bugs worked out before than after the customers get them...

OK BMW has made an open and concerTed effort to Mend the problems that plague this bike unlike some companies that release their products and then leave the buyer in a lurch for parts and warranty repairs available in Europe but not in N.A. I won't name any names since I'm above that.

K12S will be a splendid bike 'specially with the Lazer Exhaust, all the naysayers will need to reconsider their opinion!

The bike will be in US showrooms probably before 4/1. Some may want to get prepared...

Thumbs up Just wait for Akrapovic Pipe!!

Enquiries made with Akrapovic Exhausts reveal that they developing a system for the K1200s and R. A full system is coming before summer! On past examples this will be the best, possible the offer of a high exit system also!!!

I've owned several KTM dirt bikes in the last decade. I have to say they were the most well-constructed, made-out-of-the-best material offroad machines I've ever had and I've owned tons of all makes. The frames don't have bolt holes that egg-out. the forks don't bend, the grade-8 fasteners don't round out. The cylinder bore material doesn't flake off; the crank doesn't spread and phase-shift and start a horrendous vibration (are you listening honda..my CR500 was a piece of feces compared to my KTM) the shock linkage doesn't need constant attention (there isn't one; the PDF white power shock setup is a model of simplicity and supple, responsive suspension design)...and it flat outhandles all those 4-stroke monstrosities like a WR426...and it starts when hot (try starting a CRF450 after 2 hours of a 100 mile enduro...if you can). every time I ride my 380EXC hard, I say under my breath 'KTMagic)....and it's as fast in a straight line as a 525 or CRF450, and weighs 40LBS less....I can't wait to try a superduke...
