The only Japanese bike that stirs any emotion in me is the TW200

You need to go wfo on my zx14 some time. You'll be screaming in your helmet it's so fuking fast. Believe the japs got their sheat together on many bikes. Can't swallow the cool-aid for only one brand. That's Hardly Abelson mentality.

@ "A" I'm really jealous....

Well the bmw is out of the contention right now. I didn't even get to go ride as talking to the guy more I got a bad vibe. The panniers are toast. Find out there really aren't any maintenance records and he hadn't even rode it for a full season and he's selling it, I mean i think he's honest(ish) but I'm not fine with buying a 16 year old bike with 43K miles without any maintenance records. but that's me...

But on another front, I might have a lead on a VFR, 2001, thing is it's someone who apparently was deployed in the military a lot. It has 3K miles on it. That actually is really bad, or really good. I dunno if I can pull that one off because it's 800 miles away. Not because that that in and of itself is insurmountable, just this is a really bad time of year for me to be away from the house as my wife's work is exploding as is mine. But just how often do you find a 5th gen VFR with that few miles on it? Though that argument doesn't hold as much weight with my wife

Amen to that Goodwin, I bought a new 929RR Honda when they first came out.

So fast I was scared of it and me on it. The speed and power of that type of bike
is unreal. The power rush up near redline would always frighten me and yet I always pushed it anyway.

I sold it because it was way beyond me, but I had to try one.

I have no doubt a spin on your ZX14 would blow my mind and the new H2 or whatever it is is pretty wild too. I don't deny they make excellent machinery, but still they don't really do anything for me.

And no I am not a one brand kind of guy, I have 2 Beemers, 2 KTM's and a wee Aprillia.

3k miles on a 01 VFR800?! if it has not been crashed; GET IT, GET IT NOW!!
Connect with the seller, arrange some way that you can see the bike, bring cash with you for a deposit. Figure out the transport logistics later.

I bought my latest 00 VFR back in NOV 2017, 13k mi. on odometer, $2750 cash.

All the bikes pictured in my previous post (except R1200S) are priced below $3k each, some below $2k. Having cash when you see a used bike makes a difference how much you can barter on the asking price.

Viking, FWIW I just let my '99 go because I'm just too feeble to deal with the weight now. At speed she's a ballerina, in traffic she's an NFL center. BUT it's the best bike I've ever lived with. Mine sat for two years before I let her go. I took her out of the shed, poured in fresh gas, checked the oil and hit the starter. She coughed twice and then idled smoothly...after two years.

just an update

As I know how people just disappear on forums just wanted to update. Last month I finally got my bike, a 1998 VFR, 13K miles, $2K. I've put a few hundred on her since I purchased. Wow this bike is almost telepathic in what I want it to do. Has the VFR'ness, 2brothers high mount exhaust, and heated grips. Some say about the weight but compared to what i was used to she's easy to move around even at low speeds. The enigne absolutely howls to be pushed harder, though I am being restrained in my riding. I am actually surprised how much muscle memory was still there from riding a long while back.

anyhoo thx all, she might not be a bmw but this vfr is friggin awesome.

With purchase price of $2k, easily turn a profit even if you didn't like the VFR.

Ha! I have the exact same bike, minus the pipe and the Sargent.

You think it's fun now, try -1/+1 sprockets. $50 and two hours in the garage turns that thing into an absolute rocketship.
