My own sad news.

Last Tuesday I was on lunch headed to an office to pick up a pay check when just after taking a right turn and headed straight my front end whipped out from under me with zero warning. Thankfully years of skiing and Mtn biking gave me the instinctive reaction to tuck and roll where I came up with negligible injuries, just some minor tweaks and pulled muscles. I figure I was doing about 40 kmh, my first street getoff of any speed. 2 fire trucks, 2 police cars and an ambulance were there within 15 minutes. I pointed out the big puddle of oil on the road to the first fire guys. Thanks for coming by!

The sad result was the bike slid about 50' further and ground through the valve cover and chewed up the signal light plastics.

Good thing the side bags were on to keep that end of the bike off the ground.

So here's me throwing out to the community looking for a few spare parts. Anyone?

And I just had them repainted!

But it still works...

I may have the old style head guards in a box somewhere.

I am well aware it could have been a lot worse. But I have to say it's nice having my first get off at speed to know a little of what that feels like. It's a bunch different than offroad.

I cut/paste German text into Google Translate. You can also use it to translate your replies.

Ok thanks, that works. Not the greatest prices for what's available. I'll have another look at the UK site and local just to compare.

Found one on US Bay that looks t be exactly what I need for as reasonable a price as anywhere else. A third of the price of new which is good.

That blinker-pod can be reformed by melting ABS in Acetone and forming it on top of a properly shaped piece of aluminum tape (don't ask how I know). It won't look good, but you can paint it with rubberized matte paint.

Good tip!

How do you melt ABS in acetone? Do you boil the acetone and drop in some ABS? Or does ABS melt on contact with acetone?

I wouldn't try to "boil" acetone, it could very easily become "flaming" acetone.

New hand protector as it's called on the microfiches was $57. Not bad.

All fixed and repainted to match. Nice to find an exact replacement and it was the only I saw looking at Ebay Germany, UK and US.

These are pretty cheap I should order one for the left too.

I think I have a spare turn signal pod. If I do, you can have it for the shipping cost.
