The drawing files are all I have and I have 100% trust in my machinist, captainasty that he will honor that as well.
oh please make no mistake about that. your work is top notch and your machinist has done a fantastic job.

What I have is a good friend who is the QC manager at a shop up this way.

they won't do it for me as a favor, i'd need to pay them anyway. but he is interested in machining them. I also know that SJ BMW is always looking for top notch parts to retail. still a bunch of riders out here with S's.

also, I don't want to simply "borrow" the files. i'd gladly pay you for the rights and a contract for one time production of the clamps themselves. not that your machinst isn't great (they're gorgeous parts) but between shipping and my friend, it would be easier on me. although I fully understand and respect the reason's for keeping them propriatary.

have you considered patenting them? at the very least, they're covered under copyright laws just because you created them. its your work.

would that I had $500 else i'dve been on top of your list!

is it possible to say, in the future contact you if another batch comes up or I suddenly grow enough money to upgrade?

Cool

Hi, Rimmey. Thank you for the kind words. The cost on the triple clamps is "highway robbery" when you just see the top clamp. Those are cheese and not where the major inprovement comes from. The lower clamps are the real business starting from 2.25"x4"x10.5" solid Alum. bar, just over 9#. I think by the time you get the real Beemer badges, SS bolts, materail, anodizing, and labor to produce the clamps, you'll find Motoyoyo man's deal too honest.

of that I am sure. I wasn't implying he was taking anyone for a ride. of the research i've done its a hell of a deal.

really what I was saying is it gives me a chance to mill the parts seperatly and delay the cost factor over time. I could squeeze out a couple hundred bucks a few times, but the $650 it would innevitably cost (with all the crap) in one chunk is a bank buster for me.

silver spoon on a paper plate here.

you guys have no idea how excited I was to see these things drawn up even. they're more than fantastic. function AND form... please!

its exciting to me to see things like this done. i've always been a big fan of work done for the sheer love of something. I think these parts really exemplorize that. done for the love of something. its easy to spend $500 and wait for someone else to do it or never at all, but ah the work to achieve that on your own I truly envy.

I suck heavily at AutoCAD and most other 3d programs I have been tinkering with. so its inspiring to me to see it done.

awesome stuff guys. really awesome stuff.

but since x-mas is coming, i'll be extra extra good to the wife and her family

Rimmy, I did not mean to imply that you were trying to get something for nothing here. I fully realize your excitement at the prospect of possibly being able to make your own parts. I sure wish I was in that position myself. You would most likely find that the setup and fine tuning required for one set of parts would be worth way more than the $500 I was charging for these complete sets of clamps. Some of my early machine quotes were in the range of $3000 for one set of parts. Mike (captainasty) and I have been through a lot getting these parts dialed in and we would not want to have to go through some of that stuff again. There's a lot to be said for experience gained on a project like this.

At any rate, I appreciate your enthusiasm for these clamps and am going to post up another opportunity to purchase a new set of clamps later today. Check back on a new thread I will be posting for more R1100S clamp sets.

Here is the link to the new thread for more triple clamps:
