HP2 Sport Quota for USA
I spoke with the BMW marketing rep at Daytona. Only 70 HP2 Sports for USA. Airbus seems to be taking up all the available CF.

I heard the first batch will not have ABS. I hope they make more than just 70 and that will be the first batch. BTW when are they looking to have them at the dealers. jeff

Can only guess.
My "build date " is March 11. Might be here mid to end of April ? No ABS as far as I know. |

I guess my guesstimate was way high. So where are all those nay-sayers?

70 was been noted by my dealer as well, back in December. Don't know about the non-ABS Sports, or how many are in a NJ warehouse awaiting distribution, but was informed planned production of Stateside ABS units in Feb were pushed back to late March, with arrival early May. At least this was the news 2-3 weeks ago.

This B*stard has his already

and he's already got it wet. One of the posts in the thread above reckoned that there were 60 HP2 Sports coming to the UK this year.

When Bubba and I were visiting the BMW display, someone asked the BMW rep about the ABS option, the rep replied that all the bike were going to come exactly like this one, ABS included. I also heard they were not going to be making any more R1200S's and that there was only going to be this one run of HP2's, then no more.
We'll see. |

here is what i know: first batch is not supposed to have ABS.
The UK has them. Mine is ordered and has a BMW # but not a build date,(yet) if 70 is all that is ordered then alot of dealers will not see one. most of the dealerships i've talked to in the west coast say they have a list of between 2 and 5 people waiting for bikes. thats what i know for sure, which isn't much jeff

Nate's bike at Daytona was #8. Think that Chris took a production bike back with him to SJBMW. BMW has built enough to know that their carbon fiber demands can't be met. Thus, the reduction in number of forcast bikes for the USA.

Question: How does 70 US bikes meet homologation requirements for AMA F/X? There HAS to be more than that coming, no?

I am no expert om homologation issues, but AFAIK it is about bikes being built, not being sold. Like for WSBK, they need to produce 1000 bikes for the street, but if it's a $100k bike and only 2 idiots are willing to pay and the rest are rotting away in some warehouse, they still comply to regulations.

I ordered mine from a large, well established dealer in orange county. last time I checked, I was the only deposit. told the build date is right about now and no ABS. expected delivary about six weeks. the seventy number wouldn't surprise me. there was no large production run, just producing enough to fill confirmed orders. apparantly with the other HP2 bikes, alot of dealers got them but couldn't move them because of the price. BMW didn't want that repeated. yes, i suspect alot of dealers won't be getting one.
