What's Happening to me? ... GS Dreaming

Would the members here that have crossed to the dark side (and I dont mean some cave that you happened to discover whilst gallobanting about the place on your new GS) please consider the itchy feeling you leave behind when posting about your GS frivolities!

I have only had my 12S for 8 months. I am not ready to "Cross to the other side".

...but I can't seem to scratch this itch, I just can't, everywhere I look, when I go to sleep at night...MAKE IT STOP!

HEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Spend some time over at ADVrider.com, that should take care of it.

I have been thinking about these also. But going to keep my S and trade my RT.

I think I'll just stay with the S and the little gs for now and wait to see what the 800 is like. I'm too small and old to pick up a loaded 1200. Or do they all travel in pairs?

I wasn't GS dreaming 'till you guys keep going on about them...
Alps, Rivers, Dirt tracks; It all looks like so much fun!
I like the concept, but I think I'd consider an RT first and keep it on the tarmac. I don't think I'm coordinated enough for off road....

Knowing the Alps, Rivers & Dirt Tracks are now possible is part of the GS lure. Continuing straight down a dirt road or cow path without thinking twice becomes part of one's riding routine. The GS has all of the comfort of an RT, with much easier access to all of its parts.

The only thing the RT has that the GS doesn't is cruise control. It's really a dynamite touring bike, on road or off.

Yeah, the GS always gets such good comments! To be honest I've never taken one out for a spin. May have to do that before any decisions are made, but that's a little way off yet so I've got some time. *Phew*

Chewie;
DON"T TEST RIDE THE GS..... you may end up buying one. hehe

Don't want to fuel the fire more but hey, with an S this sort of stuff is no fun, or even impossible. What's better than an all-road vacation, weekend trip or just after work trip? Anybody can race the tarmac at 100mph but this stuff takes a whole different sort skills. I can tell (now)!

Ive got the fever as well. I had a GS for ten years before my '02 S, and after two S bikes and an RT, I think I'm ready to go back. I've been back and forth between the KTM and the BMW shop for the past two weeks. Both the 990 and the GS have been singing to me all winter.

Well, having some experience on both >> 990 is the hardcore option (goes like hell, and then add "some" more), GS/A the sensible one (looks like an industrial accident on wheels).

990 not without reliability issues - mind . Carefully calculate the "hidden costs" on both (when the bike flips etc etc etc).

Our traveling show last year consisted of a 12GS, a 12S and an East German tank retriever cable among other necessities. Seemed to work pretty well ! I'd recommend it.
