I only see half as much as you guys, no double yellow passes, triple digits only a few times. I speak only for myself, probably a bad speedo.
Bill's S was only spotted a few times with the front wheel lifted and giving the appropriate salute. That S is not stock, I don't care what anyone else says. Great video's.

First falling leaf rally (aka newb)
Thanks all for welcoming me into the fold. I had a fantastic time.
wswartzwel, you did an awesome job on the pics, totally dig 'em. As soon as I can clear up some room to process mine, I'll post some as well. I'll definately be going back. And who knows...maybe I'll be a bit better on the bike too

So glad to meet you Travis. I appreciate the photo tips, and look forward to seeing your photography in the OT picture thread.
I will post up your campfire pic, as well as a bunch more rally site images, tonight after I finish up the DD/P roads video. But here is one I liked, Thanks again for all the tips.

Now THAT is what I call sport touring! One of the best riding vacations I have had in a long time. Thanks again to Bill for closing up shop and taking us on an extraordinary tour of Arkansas and Missouri. The riding was out of this world and the company was just as good. Bill you are a true gentleman and family man and it is evident in many ways. All the very best in life to you my friend.
We were so fortunate with the weather the entire trip and Dee and I had a great time getting back to NC. We did have to get a motel room in Galatin, TN. because the nearby state park was full, but the bed and shower were nice. We ended up taking the long way and, just by happy accident, discovered some roads that I had not been on for 30 years or so when I was doing some caving in the area of northeast Tn. Hwy 63, 33, and 70 were certainly something to write home about! Thanks again Bill and my other traveling companions Bob, Craig, Gary, and Dee. Lets do plan to do it again sometime.

No... The bolt that holds the speed sensor in is not the original bolt... it has a bit of surface rust on it that will disapear when I wash it again.
Lots of fasteners have some corrosion... But I can't see that sort of stuff when I am riding it... I also am prone to taking it on dirt roads and creek crossings.

BTW that is at 42 PSI... I can't afford prematurely worn tires for the sake of Art sculpture.

![]() The pirelli's have another day of fun left in the NC. Tenn. mountains. After 2534 miles on them the bike is starting to wander a little with the best part of the life being already used up. The pics of the front didn't turn out to well. Anyway they served there purpose, not bad for a weeks worth of work, that is for the tires. It was truly a great time playing on the Arkansas Missouri back roads. The ride home was great also.

Bubba, The R1200ST has 95360 miles. I have to report that there has been a bad vibration in the footpegs and the bikes engine hasn't been smooth as of late. The most disturbing thing has been that the mobil1 oil after being changed and a quick run up the mountain becomes instantly dark. But the thing that bothers me the most is that the oil has copper looking metal flakes and small metal chunks probably indicating crank bearing failure.
BMW has been notified and I'm anxious to see if my Pinnacle extended warrenty will cover. I hope to hear from them tomorrow. This was discussed also at the Falling Leaf and will probably be a seperate post later on when I hear back from them.

I knew the mileage was getting up there; but, I wouldn't expect a bottom end failure yet.

Another boring road.. DD took us to within spitting distance of the rally.
http://www.bswartz.net/nikon/fallingleaf08/fallingleaf12.mov Nothing but curves and rolling hills. Since we got to the rally early we got the best campsites... ![]() ![]() Bill Ralston lit a huge fire.... ![]() Mundis's huge 10 foot tall beer dwarfed the fire though... ![]() ![]() I have been lusting after one of these... And was able to talk with the owner who's wife rides on back... I really was happy to hear that it made a good 2 up touring bike as well as a dirt road exploring vehicle. ![]() More camp pics..

Bill its neat to see the transition from few tents to the tent city. Cool pics and great videos.
I don't think it will be hard to convince anyone that attended to come back. The weather also cooperated nicely.
