Greetings,
According to a report on Solomoto, BMW is working on the next iteration of the K1200S – the K1300S. BMW are expected to show the new K1300S alongside the S1000RR superbike, at the INTERMOT and/or the EICMA show later this year. The company is also likely to unveil the K1300R and K1300GT variants at the same time. The K1300S will be fitted with a new 1300cc inline-four, which is expected to produce around 180 horsepower. The bike will keep the Duolever front suspension and shaft-drive/single-sided swingarm from the K1200S, but the suspension is likely to be much more refined, and will offer more adjustability. In terms of styling, we wouldn’t expect anything radical – an evolution of the K1200S lines seems more likely. The same would be true for the K1300R, K1300R Sport and K1300GT, all of which will use the new 1300cc engine and an evolution of their respective styling. And, yes, BMW is also expected to show the new F800R at the INTERMOT/EICMA shows. http://www2.solomoto30.com/noticia.asp?ref=22287#imagen2

The base price on the R12S is more than the K12S, what do you mean they are out of your price range?

R1200S - $14,300
K1200S - $14,040 BMW USA site...and that's list...I don't know anyone who's paying list for any BMW (except maybe the HP2S and F800GS) these days. Last edited by MoDog; 09-19-2008 at 12:28 PM.. |

Why the hell is the K $4500 more than the R12S over here? That's more than 20% more expensive than the R.
R1200S - $21000 mono paint version K1200S - $25500 mono paint version Yet another confusing thing about our different prices. I can understand our prices being more, but I would've thought that the difference would be a common percentile, not changing with every bloody model. Be interesting to see what the SKRR is worth here as opposed to the US. |

...elica rossa...

...over here...
R1200S = 15.251,-- Euro (without any options ; so ABS not included) = 26696.89 Australian Dollars... K1200S = 17.900,-- Euro (with the 'sport' wheels, and of course ABS standard) = 31333.97 Australian Dollars... ...in terms of money ; the same sort of difference in Euros as in your Australian Yen's...

I seem to remember the K being far more expensive when it first came out, but nevertheless, BMW pricing is not to be trusted.
I paid $16K for my '02 in late August '01 and a little over $10K for my '04 in '05...'tis a strange world, Master Jack. |

The R1200CL's were only about $500-$1500 more than a base R1200C (without bags or windshield), and included that fairing, hard bags, etc.
Figure that one out, and maybe you'll understand the rest of the pricing structure for these bikes...

I believe in the US, the price of the K has a lower profit margin (or offset by some marketing money) to attact new to BMW buyers. The K1200S is one of the more conventional "looking" bikes they make and might bring in the traditional Japanese bike buyer. In the US, it seems that Horsepower rules and that the R1200S didn't survive as a "sport bike" with only 122 hp didn't surprise me (@ the price they were asking). That said, I'd love to track an R1200S.
