Buttonwillow Track Day with N8!

...once again, calling all SoCal - CentralCal and maybe even NoCal riders.

I want to see whether there is some interest on the Board first, before I expand that quest to the BMW dealers...

I am - once again - trying to organize a somewhat exclusive track day at Buttonwillow Raceway... sometime next year (from May on out...)... the day would likely be a Sunday or Monday (the later usually better!) and I do not want more than 40 people.

Nate told me that "if I set it up and organize it, he would show up with his bikes..." and play with us... hang out, give tips etc.

I think that is a great opportunity for some newbies to get track experience and for some of the more experienced riders, to learn a thing or two as well... for all, it would be a cool experience to hang out with Nate, as he is very proficient in riding our Markee to the extreme... he has - as we all know - quite a bit of experience of moving the 11S as well as the 12S along at a nice clip...

The price tag would be around $260 for such an event (if we get 40 riders) and, compared to the usual $180 - $200, IT WOULD BE CONSIDERABLY MORE TRACK TIME TO BE HAD...

I am thinking 2 groups... one group for the not so experienced riders and one for the more experienced riders... but we can keep this very flexible, being that it is going to be a rather small group!

Naturally, it is NOT limited to BMW's... but for now I want to try to keep it limited to Board Members and friends of those...

Let me know what you think, folks...

I freaking love it! I just need to buy an S... and some leathers... and heal, but that should all be taken care of by May.

Yes that would be cool! The day we had here at Jennings with the Northeast Florida BMW Club out of Jacksonville was awesome. It was dubbed a "sport touring school". There was classroom time with dry erase board map/track talk. Just a great day and I have never seen more improvement by the end of the day.

No, no no... You guys got it ALL wrong!

You need a track day in the mid-west. Like Heartland Park Topeka, Mid American Motorplex (GREAT track for beginners), Tulsa Raceway Park, or other. Not St. Louis, or Iowa Speedway.

I bet you would get more people too, because its in the middle of the USA, its perfect!

Or go to VIR!

...I like the early momentum... I will contact Carrie next week and see what the openings are... Nate, do you already know your race schedule for next year? Would be kind of a bummer if I find something and reserve and then you are tied up already...

I'll probably just call you or send you and email as soon as I have some options...

If I can nail this down by mid December, that would be cool... I'd like to have about 15 people together (committed) by then as I will need to make a $3000 Downpayment... I'll get a few dates and then will throw hem out there...

Here's the deal... if I get the commitment (as in monetary commitment) from 15 guys by then, I'll lock it... I am sure that by May we will have plenty of People together for this...

IF NOT, you guys are still in, and I will make this a Sign It sponsored event... meaning my business will cover the rest and you are not liable for anything more that what you have already paid and there WILL be an awesome track day!!! But I need to have at least 15 people together... (I hope my partner will NOT read this forum!)

Maybe I can get Icon and/or Alpinestars to participate and throw some goodies our way!?

How's that for an offer!?

Down payment is $3000!?!? Holy ****!!! How much is it total? Remember you still need corner workers. And then feed them.

MAM (Mid American Motorplex) is only $3500 for Monday and thats 8am-5pm.

Ralf why not "hijack" the River City Trackday? Is already all set up and planned.Always a good and well organized event for 14? years running,a well oiled machine...
All we need is to set up a advanced group getting instruction from Nate...

Yellow... the total depends on the final number of people showing up... at 15, I am looking at about $7300.00... that includes Insurance, Ambulance, Corner Workers and Food... for $50 extra, I even get a PA system to harass everybody!

If I get 40 people together it will be about $10000... that would leave enough money to pay for Nate's gas money and the boarding for him...

If it's a few bucks extra, I'll figure it out... as I said! Yet, it would be nice to have enough people together...

I don't want to "Hijack" anyone else's track day... I am not doubting that it would probably be better organized... but that is not what it will be all about! And I have organized events before...

how Nate comes into play will be decided once I have dates and confirmation... but, from all I have heard, he is very happy to help and give some instructions... I'll clear that with him though...

I am trying to keep the final number so everyone gets ample track time... I'd favor a two group setup for the first half and then open track format after lunch.... It usually thins out very quickly and there will be no more than 30 riders on the track I am sure... and that is nothing for Buttonwillow...

And - if you don't know Buttonwillow - it is a wonderful track....

Here is the configuration we would run:

...well, I figure, if we can get 25+ people together for the TC events, it ought to be possible to do something like that...

BW is pretty much in the middle of things and it should be an easy one... it's about 4 (or so) hours from San Diego and 3+ from SF/SJ... the central Coasters can make it in slightly more than an hour and Fresno/Oakhurst is a little over two!

In a way, it could function as the SIXTH Tripple Crown Ride!?
