Newbie here - HP2 Sport owner in GA (once was selling - Now keeping - got a good job) just wanted to check in and chat about this bike -

Mine is a non-ABS and i hear differing opinions about that - I specifically wanted no abs for several reasons:
1) fewer made
2) lighter
3) better feel
4) more raw
5) all my other bikes have abs
6) mainly for track
7) motorcycles are supposed to be dangerous
8) fear of god
9) any suggestions
10) please enlighten me!

HP2 Sport vs S1000RR

Hi - New here. Thought I'd throw my 2 cents in on the above debate.
Sold my S1000RR after one year of riding and now own an HP2 Sport. I'm an expert level former racer and race school instructor. The S1000 is a better track bike. The HP2 Sport is a better street bike. I don't spend that much time on the track anymore. In another year when the S1000RRR (or what ever) comes out, the value of the RR's will drop dramatically and will just be last years bad boy. The HP2 Sport will ALWAYS be a cool bike. = )

Woa, are you going to get slammed for that comment. Welcome to the R1100S/R1200S Technical Forum. Where are you located with your HP2Sport?

Did you pick up one of the leftover new bikes? Dealers have some pretty good incentives on those bikes compared to list price.

Makes perfect sense...

Being that the S1000RR is being sold in numbers the HP2S wasn't even meant to sell, the decrease in value will be accordingly. Much like the Japanese liter bikes... maybe a little better, but I doubt it.

I still have not ridden one, been invited plenty of times... have refused equally often. It's about twins for me. That, and real life application. And, somehow, some 190HP are not exactly within the range of every day applicability for me.

Welcome to the asylum.

Sorry for the delayed response. I bought a near new (1,700 miles) '09 w/ABS from Cycle Werks of Barrington near Chicago. I'm in Michigan.
One thing that has been a bit frustrating is the lack of available for the bike. The options appear to be exhaust or wheels, which are both already too cool to replace for no good reason. I have reverted to my racer gene and have sprinkled on a butt-load of alloy (blue anodized) and titanium fasteners. The racer-spec, pre-drilled ti bolts from ProBolts are very nice for the money. It is subtle, but takes the whole bike up a notch. Does anyone know if the valve cover bolts are shared with any other R1200's? How about the very nice cruise control from Wonderlich? They say it does not fit but has anyone tried?
Thanks,
Drew = )

Hello Drew. You can get for your HP2 at least the following. Lightened and re-ratioed crank to alternator pulleys, HC Pistons, light wt rods, adjustable rear torque arm, a taller rear-end, stainless steel slipper clutches with ceramic faces, full titanium exhaust system, carbon ceramic brake discs, titanium valves and retainers, carbon fiber wheels............the list goes on. The machine is very nice just like it is however, and mine has run flawless so for with very little changes to it except fresh tires often and keeping the shock springs at full length when bike is at rest. The oil stays clean for some reason and it has never had anything but 100% synthetic in it since coming form the factory. Valve settings seem about the same each of the two checkings I have made during these first 7700 miles or so.

I went to Barrington to buy my '05 RT that I crashed. The owner is a great guy to deal with. Nice town.

What's the VIN#? HP2Sports don't come with Traction Control. Are you refering to the quick shifter? What was the ebay listing number.
