Danmoto cat delete?

Hi,

I've seen the listing on Ebay for the Danmoto Y-pipe to remove the cat convertor. Has anyone bought one and installed it? Does it do what it's suppose to and is it well made or is it flimsy and junky?

Thanks!

Please buy one! I have been looking at one for two years and haven't done it yet.

I would like to see how loud it is.

This isn't doing much for my enthusiasm for their product...

Ive heard alright things about them as a company. I inquired about some cans for a different project last year and it took a few days for them to get back to me. The only other cat delete pipe i found was the wunderlich which is listed at 400 bucks i think. Danmoto is half the price...

I heard right back from them on a question concerning sound level using stock cans.

I can't comment specifically on the Boxer cat delete but I had them customize a ZX-12 CF can for my Duc and it came out nice. Their welding is all machine done and quite nice, good penetration and very even. The CF can itself is not the quality of the top shelf name brands but is way way cheaper and for a project like my Duc Hyper it met the need. I've had good communications with them via their web site and ebay.

I'd say go for it. looks like a good deal. If I was in the market, I wouldn't hesitate to buy this one. I really like the sound with the y pipe and stock cans. Not too loud and not too quite. :-)

I bought one of these and installed it with the stock cans. The Danmoto is good quality stainless with machine welds, but the wall thickness is thinner than I expected.

The fit was good, but two things to note.

1. The strange tab on the front end is supposed to (I believe) connect to the original plate that attaches the cat to the engine. I didn't know this until after I took the pipe off, so I never connected it in this way. Not connecting it to anything except the exhaust flanges allows for some movement/looseness due to lack of support.

2. The aft end of the Danmoto that slips into the front end of the cans is not a tight fit. The outside diameter of the Danmoto pipe is smaller than the the inside diameter of the end of the mufflers. I wasn't able to tighten the clamp enough to take up the difference. I thought about having the end of the Danmoto pipe expanded by a shop, but never got around to it. The result was an obvious exhaust leak at the joint in the form of soot.

Having said all that, I ran the pipe for about 300 miles, and the combination ran fine and sounded good (I'm one of those who likes a good throaty sound without being loud). If you expand the aft end of the Danmoto pipe and connect it to the original plate in front, it should be a good fit and operate well.

I bought one, then didn't need it and sold it to troutmd. He said all was good with it before he recently sold his R11S on the forum. Maybe he'll comment
