My last new motorcycle purchase was 2009, when I traded in a 2003 Suzuki Bandit 1200 that I bought from the salvage yard with clear title for $1500 for a brand new Suzuki Gladius with $2000 trade-in value, 0% financing for 48 months. I paid off that bike within 9 months and sold it for over $6k, didn't turn a profit be cost me less than $2k to ride a Gladius for 12k miles.
Ever since then I've been staying with used bikes that turn profit upon resale.

Brand new bikes just do not interest me with traction control, ABS, electronics that are difficult to diagnose and work on in my own garage with specific tools.

Just to be clear, it would be 'Beekeeper and the Romulan'.

I should have bought a used bike instead of new since it was only new for a brief moment. Even new bikes have problems. Still waiting on the new forks I ordered and paid for in Aug. '18. Supposedly shipped last week but someone forgot to scan them at departure.

I'm on a casual quest for the ONE perfect bike and will then cull the herd. The VFR800FD is close to filling the bill. The one serious shortcoming is power. My Buell's massive and never ending torque (and 420 lb. weight) have spoiled me. The power is almost overwhelming when you crank on it in the middle gears. Overwhelming in a delightful way. I'd have a hard time living without it.

I’m considering the Ducati SuperSport S with bags. Light , nimble. Spose to be comfy with plenty of horse power. I wish Ducati would continue to make “under seat exhaust” standard design. That’s one of the features that originally caught my eye with the R1100s.
