Question 2003 986S first scan with Durametric

Hi all,

I'm looking for a little guidance on the fault codes I am pulling on Durametric and 2 issues I have that i can't find any info on...

A little background first. Bought this car in December, currently has about 38,000 miles on it. I had a shop put on new tires. I have changed the oil + filter, flushed and replaced the coolant, replaced 1 O2 sensor, and done the necessary dash reconfiguration to add a PCCM+. There have been other small jobs, but nothing electronic or power train related. I ordered the Durametric when I was getting an O2 sensor voltage fault (pre-cat bank 1). That doesn't seem to be an issue any longer having replaced the O2 sensor.

Known issues 1 and 2:
1 - the PCCM+ will 'go black' and need the power button hit to come back on. The whole thing goes silent but doesn't power-down (there is no boot-up time, from a cold start that system takes a while t come back on). It's like a stand-by mode. This happens at seemingly random intervals while driving.

2- I do have some issues with the A/C not wanting to blow cold. Sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't. Testing the coolant shows that is full. I am getting A/C fault codes.

On to the Durametric results...

Bosch Digital Motor Electronics Motronic 7.8
P0455: Porsche fault code 94 - Tank vent system (major leak) -I am going to replace the gas cap. I got a CEL and thought I just had a loose cap, tightened, cleared with a regular scanner... So now I will replace that.

Instrument Cluster K21 Current Fault Codes
9102: CAN comfort bus
9114: PCM control unit
9115: Air conditioning control unit

Airbag B05 Current Fault Codes
3: Supply voltage

Automatic Air Conditioning H01 Current Fault Codes
34: CAN bus off fault
36: Instr. cluster CAN timeout fault
38: PCM CAN timeout fault

So basically, I am trying to figure out what to do with this information... I don't know if my A/C or radio issues are related or not. I don't know if I need to replace the a/c control unit... I'm just lost. I'd rather not go buying parts I don't need and I'm willing to chase thing if I at least know where to start looking.

Any info on the 2 known issues and on these fault codes would be greatly appreciated.

Most of these are dash cluster faults indicating lack of power to various modules and time out faults indicating lack of CAN bus communications. As you indicate you modified the dash, I would start looking where you changed things..................

What he said. Make sure the connections are all clean and seated fully. Beyond that, I would look for a second hand HVAC controller and do a quick swap there. That was the solution for a B5.5 Passat with similar symptoms.
