HELP, where is the purge valve?

I have a new purge valve for my fuel system, but I can't seem to find it. Anyone know where it is or have a parts diagram that shows where it goes?

Nevermind, I found it. If anyone else ever needs to know, the valve end is tucked under the driver's side intake manifold.

My check engine light came on the other day. We put a scan tool on and it showed that the Purge Valve needed to be replace. The car ran rough on start up and smoked at start up. Is the what happened to your Boxster?

Fud,

Your Oil Air Seperator is probably bad.

AFJ,

The Oil Air Seperator looks like some kind of baffle. Does it brake or get loose? How does it go bad?

Thanks

The rubber diaphram inside the seperator breaks, allowing a huge vacuum leak, which lets the intake suck in a large amount of oil vapor - leading to engine smoke.

A quick test for this is to have the engine running, open the rear trunk, and remove the oil filler cap and put your hand over the opening. If the vacuum tries to pull your hand in, ot better yet, if the cap is held on with vacuum; you seperator is bad.

Thanks for the help. You were right. I installed a new oil air seperator and the car runs great, with no smoke. Thanks again.

How much did it cost to replace the oil/air separator? Also, should there be any vacuum at all at the oil filler? Mine has a light vacuum, but nothing that would prevent the cap from coming off.

I changed it myself. I took the old one off while I was waiting for the new one to come in. It only took about 45 mins. to install the new one. The part was around $100. I did not check the oil filler for vacume.
