todays dumb window question!
Maybe it's just that the cold weather clouded my brain. But, I just don't remember. I just got my car back from my tech. he informed me that there is a problem with the microswitch in the roof latch. it seems when you raise the roof, with the windows in the full up position, and they drop down as they should, they are supposed to return to full up when you latch the top in place. mine don't I have to use the buttons to return them.. The problem is I can't for the life of me ever remember the windows closing themselves! any help for an old man with a crappy memory?

If the windows are partially open, they are supposed to close themselves after the top is latched down

I have a 1997 that I have owned for 8 years. Have to use the switches to raise the windows after you latch the roof.
The way I remember it was that in 2002 they started going up when you latched the roof. |

The windows should fully close when you close the top latch, even if they're all the way down. At least mine do. [eta: Mine's an 01, per Tool Pants' comment, maybe the older 986 windows did NOT rise when the latch closed]
Still need to replace the switch assembly up there and see if that resolves my top issues....

ON my '00, unless my windows were already fully up, they do not return to the fully up position when closing the top. How's that.. 4 people, 4 different answers
![]() Luckily, as long as the window switches still work, I don't care if the windows return all the way up or not

Here's another comment on the windows going up when the top is latched. I to have them go up on my 01' Boxster S....
My buddy has an 00' Boxster and his don't so I guess, the model year is the key...... I'm sure that you'll get some more comments concerning the windows going up.
