Blinking Temp light?

Hi guys
As I turn my car on today I noticed the temp gauge has a red light and it starts to flash.
I let the engine warm up and the light still flashes.
I shut the car down and restart and the light goes away.
It has happened a few times already.

Does anyone know what this means?

Thanks for looking

Rockster,
Had the same thing happen when I first bought mine, added distilled water to the reservoir, end of annoying flashing light.

What Garry said - low coolant warning. HOWEVER, coolant doesn't just typically get low by itself - there is generally a leak somewhere. I would keep a close eye on the levels and see if they start to get low again.

Thanks for the reply guys.
I'll add a little more coolant and check the level.
I'll keep you guys posted.

So I added some antifreeze to the resivoir in the back trunk.
It was a little low, just around the min mark.
The PO told me he flushed out the coolant.
Maybe the coolant found some air pockets?

Well the light has gone away and the level seems to be the same for now.
Thanks again for all your help.

Yup, if there are air pockets, then it might burb and leave some on the road through the overflow tube. We've been having some bleeding issues with the "Super Boxster" recently with it dumping an unexpected amount of coolant on the road. I think we accidentally overfilled it at the track one day when it looked low, but really wasn't low.
