Will 996 sway bars fit a Boxster?
I know the front sway bars will fit but not sure about rear. Is it any bigger than the 18mm of the stock Boxster sway bar?
Thanks in advance.

A rear 996 sway will not fit. If you want to change sways and get more of a sport tuned suspension I do recommend the M030 sways.

Thanks. I was pretty sure the rears would not fit but couldn't find it for sure. As I understand it, the M030 for the 986 will fit base and Boxster S...correct?

Yes, all 986 sways fit on all 986 cars. There are subtle differences between the Base and S M030 sways but all will fit.

I believe the M030 bars are only about 120% front, 115% rear, in terms of roll stiffness compared to stock and are non-adjustable.

mikewood, You left out the punchline. Allow me to finish your sentence:
"... and transform the way a Boxster rotates in a corner." For reference, my brother and I run Time Trials about 25 track days/yr in a pair of nearly identical Spec X Boxsters. Mine has $1200 worth of adjustable comp sways and drop links and is set up by one of the premier racing shops on the west coast. My brother has M030 sways he picked up used for $100. The cars feel exactly the same in a corner and lap times are often within a few 1/100s. Six overall track records in BSX class between us. Stiffer sways are not necessarily faster.

I'm not suggesting "stiffer sways are better", by any means. I am suggesting that upping wheel rates in roll by such a small amount may not result in what the OP is looking for...I'm also not seeing how raising the relative roll stiffness in front makes the car rotate better?
Your example isolates just the difference in bars. What else is different or the same in the cars' set up? Are you and your brother swapping rides consistently at time trial events to take the driver factor out of the equation? Last edited by mikewood; 10-24-2012 at 08:07 AM.. |

Thanks guys. I read about the understeer with too much front bar and think the M030 might be the way to go. I am just looking for a bit better cornering and to supplement the new springs I have coming. The car is mostly street but I like to do a half dozen DE's a year and need to make up in cornering what I lose to flat out HP some of the other cars have. Thanks again for the input.
