It could be pretty bad as I am sure you are aware. It docent take a half a second to do all you said earlier. Start easy and cheap and work your way up to scary.

I would but..... It is a car I am looking at getting and am trying to figure how much of a chance I am trying to take. I am usually a pretty big gambler.

Sad to say the title of the post fits now. After negotiating and agreeing on a price, scheduling the pickup of the car for Friday, figuring out with the seller where we are going to have the title notarized, going to the bank to get a small loan,...... The seller says he had a better offer and sold it out from under me. Now to go back to the bank and hope I can cancel out the loan and get back the $400 in fees for the setup. The worst part was going home after our Christmas Eve service and tell my 15 1/2 year old and 12 year old son that I lost what was to be our project and their first car Sorry for the rant. I will now let it go and figure God has another plan for us! Thanks for listening. Ply

ps, whoever got the red boxster from Columbus today good luck with the car, I hope the no start is an easy fix.

Plyhammer,
I am sorry to hear that "your" car was sold from under you. Perhaps it was meant to be but I am sure there are others out there. My mother in law(now deceased) would have said what was the good in it namely your situation? Happy Christmas. Life has its share of disappointments even for your children but something else will come up.

I may be old school but a mans word/handshake is the law for a real man ! When two men agree on a deal for whatever it is a handshake seals the deal. I've sold items in the past and have had counter offers that were higher, not once did I go back on my word. There is something to be said about karma I know there always could be " special " circumstances but on paper this looks wrong to me what the seller did. Good luck in your search for a car.

In my younger days I would have been furious, but figure there is a bigger reason? Maybe my son would have struggled with a 5 speed. What comes around goes around I guess.

I wouldn't worry about it too much...

if the seller was "that kind" of seller than I would be worried about buying the car in the first place as what he did borders on deceiving and so who knows what else he may have been "forgetting" to tell you was wrong with the car. The poor sap that purchased the car may have just unknowingly done you a favor in the end.

Papasmurf, at the price I was supposed to buy it at, I figured it would have more issues. But I know that we will find the car for him. Was just hoping it would be something as cool/nice as the boxster.

There are many out there -- and yes it will be a cool car --

I believe in fate -- you could have been in a for a big bill or nothing at all.

But be forewarned -- just getting the immobilizer replaced and reprogrammed is
a ~$700 job -- and has to be done at the dealership......

Keep looking....

Mike
