Boxster Purchase Advice

I am jumping over from the 911 aircooled threads to see if the Boxster guru's can give me some things to look at in purchasing a used Boxster for the wife.

I am looking at a 2007 Boxster S with about 50,000 miles. It is not local and it is at BMW dealer (which I suspect might make asking for a PPI a challenge).

Beside the tires, convertible, what do you recommend I question or ask about since I cannot personally inspect the vehicle. The car has had 3 owners so records are not available and he bought it at the auction.

Also, I think you can run the Porsche VIN to get some information on the options the car had and is it possible to get any repair and maintenance information?

Thanks in advance.

Dealers do not like to share the service records, often citing customer privacy.

Regardless of who has the car, you still need to do a full PPI, it is your last chance to bail or renegotiate the price before you spend a lot of money...........

BMW dealer who bought it off auction. He has no records on the car. I did a PPI on my 911, but it was a used car dealer who dealt in only Porsche, Ferrari, etc. so he had no issue delivering it for a PPI.

I agree on getting one, but not being in the same state, and knowing a good source, and being he is a major dealer, I see him just not wanting to deal with the hassle. The car will sell.

I would never consider buying a car unless 1) I could check it out personally
2) I could get a PPI done by an independent shop 3) Check all receipts for work done.

You are better off waiting until you get some vacation time or time off to check it out personally. Private sellers are more willing to provide service info. Be patient. Get things going your way!

Any dealer that does "not want to deal with the hassle" of a PPI is a dealer worth avoiding.

The dealer did not make that claim. I have no asked yet as I do not have an independent mechanic in the area yet to check it out. Was researching PCA for someone in the area and will then propose it.

So where is the car and maybe someone here can point you to a good indie PPI place?
