My window on the passenger side of my 97 Boxster will not auto drop with opening my door from the inside or outside handles. I can here the motor run when I lift up on either handle. What should I check first?

With the door open, push down on the glass, if it drops, the window regulator is faulty.

I had this happen. I needed a regulator and the new price is not bad at all. The motor, on the other hand... yikes.
