Help with these hoses and where they go, please...
Hi, in the continuing saga on the 2001 boxster s that spits up gas when putting in 1$ of fuel in the tank, I replaced the vent valve, and the fuel filling problem worsened. I am now looking under the battery at the tank and looking for kinked hoses, and perhaps a filler tank valve problem. Before i got to that, i noticed a loose tube and a kinked tube shown as red and yellow arrows in the pictures. Does anyone know what these are, and where the unconnected hose should be connected and if the kinked tube (yellow arrow) is of concern?
Thanks, ![]() ![]()

Clock the fill hose to the 9 o'clock position. Took a long time to discover this works. Good luck.

I think that's the battery vent hose.
Some batteries have a vent port. Heard horror stories in BMW e34 5 series the battery was under the seat and if you didn't connect the vent hose the HCL gasses would eat the seat springs up. |

thanks for the comments. To close out this issue, The gas filling problem worsened because I hadn't properly placed the reed switch within the vent valve properly... I have another post on this, with regard to the reed switch that I hadn't properly placed within the vent valve housing. I'm hoping the latest albatross problem has been resolved, Looking forward to the next test, filling the gas tank. I guess it was baffling to me that this reed switich doesn't attach like in a female end or connector. It took me a while to figure out where it went, and having the old vent valve proved to be important, as I left the new vent valve attached. This reed switch just fit in a groove in the housing of the old vent valve, and apparently just does it's job by being in contact with the filler tube.

Last thing, in my endeavor to fix my fueling problem I ran into a problem of my guage not reading a full tank when it was. I will find out today if I've set sender at proper position so ballast/floater can move freely (clearly that was the problem there that I created myself in this fishing expedition)... But a note, I had a heck of a time re-threading o-ring cap for fuel tank because the sender unit seal slipped off and I couldn't figure out from where... Well it doesn't sit on the sending unit this rubber seal/gasket sits inside the tank and doesn't fall in because of these lips that hold it in place... Fyi
