15" tires?
The frost-bite warnings are making me really anxious for spring so I'm looking for new tires for the old 911 on this Blue Monday. There are numerous threads on the lack of choice for 15" tires but none that I found for those of us north of the border. Does anyone know who sells these tires for classic cars in Canada, preferably in the Ottawa region? I've been running Vredestein Classic Sprints for the last few years and have been happy with them. I'm looking for something equivalent in terms of performance and look.
Thanks... and stay warm!

Try PMC Tire in Sherbrooke QC. Their website pnctire.com is a bit frustrating for me, but overall happy with their service. The only problem I have had with them was the date code on some 16" tires I ordered - they were 4 years old when they arrived at my house. They did replace them right away, and I had them check date on replacements before shipping. I think they may be able to get a special tire in for you, even if they don't stock. Probably best to call them. Very reasonably priced, free shipping

You could go a bit wider 195/65-15 and 205/60-15 are about the same height as stock.

I love how light this car feels and putting wider tires on it would make it feel heavier. Like Alois Ruf said in a video I watched recently, 'It's like driving your pants'! if I can't find the original size, I will have to consider the wider tires.

I liked the 185/70-15's that came on my first 914, but they are not quite the correct OE size. The OE's were an odd metric R size, many came with the 165R-15 which IIRC works out to something like 165/83-15. So no matter how you slice it, unless you can find a"classic" size, the best you will do is a close size.
I too like stock height tires on 15" rims, I think it fills up the wheel well proper and just looks correct. I have 5-bolt 15x6 fuchs with 205/60-15 tires on my 914, the new 914 has the 205/55-15 tires on 15X6" cookies, just that 5% sidewall difference makes the new 914 tires look too small. I just wish there were decent sport tires in 205/60-15, 195/65-15.

I've seen this tire in a lot of photos of old Porsches. Crazy expensive, though:
