Painting
Hi all I am new here...
I am currently looking at a car in Florida,, that i have not seen yet but only pictures. I was recommended by a friend to get a PPI. I have just received the PPI results.. the engine is good the only problem i have is that the drivers door has been repainted.. I dont know if and or does this affect the price of the car. (PPi guy gave the paint job 8/10) The guy is the 2nd owner and tells me that his push bike handle bar fell against the door and made a dent and a large scratch.. so he got it tapped out and painted???? what should i do?? cheers ant |

Well you can run a carfax report just to confirm the incident was really insignificant. (I just bought a Carfax account for 30 days - wink, wink)
All cars will have some sort of history... especially if they're older... I'm on a similiar situation and now I have to decide how to bring it here...

Don't be too concerned, if it was repaired properly then thats it. You haven't mentioned the year but if its an early 80s or earlier then most likely some panel has been repainted... If you believe that wrinkle will sour the joy of the new car then look somewhere else... if you don't mind not driving a car that will not be a concours-class (but maybe a hell of a car) then buy it. Anyway these cars are not precisely the easiest/fastest to sell cause buyers are very careful and care about any details, so if you buy it will you be in the same position when selling her? You bet.

well the PPI, if it was a quality PPI, would have revealed any collision damage. I think it'd be ok..
Did you pick the place to take it to? or did the seller?
